Welcome, to a short romantic tale of Alfa's 60º V6 Busso. Designed in the late 60's Alfa was looking to move upmarket and needed a more powerful engine to take over from their tried and tested twin can four cylinder. Giuseppe Busso set about developing a brand new V6 engine to power Alfa into the premium market. Although there were some high hopes, no one expected the finished product to be so advanced! Initially available as a 12v SOHC engine and later 24v DOHC,  the power band and sound were unparalleled, Evo magazine wrote of its sound as "the original Alfa Romeo V6 was the most glorious-sounding six-cylinder road engine ever," in 2011. During its reign the Busso powered eye-watering icons such as the Alfetta GTV6, the SZ and lastly the GTA's in its largest 3.2L displacement. Woefully, all good things must end, and the Busso V6 production in Arese, ended on the last day of 2005, Giuseppe Busso, its father, passed away three days later...
